Updates on The Website 12/17/2010
14 days left of this year and guess what I'm doing: Revising this website! Yes! It's really necessary. At the present moment, you may see some of the changes already made but I think by the end of this weekend, a bulk of the changes will be in effect, including prices, removal of some products and a few new ones. Plus, W. Eric Snell of E. Snell Design (dope photographer if I may say so myself) will be doing photos of ALL of my cakes. No more guessing of what these cakes look like! Please review the new menu and easier navigation. As always, please feel free to book me for your events, children birthday parties, weddings and all that's in between. FYI: I've received enough angry emails...yes, I will do fondant cakes :::sucks teeth::: LOL. Love you all, L. Shauntay Snell Add Comment Cakes, Cocktails & Culture, Vol. I 05/01/2010
I'm so ecstatic about my upcoming event. It's been months of planning, hiring and searching for the prospective place for my event but the days are winding down and the date is nearly approaching. On Friday, May 21, 2010, The Cake Monologues will be hosting our first official cake tasting event: Cakes, Cocktails & Culture, Vol. I at Soul Creations in Brooklyn, NY. Soul Creations is at 1585 Fulton Street between Marcus Garvey Blvd. & Albany Avenue. It is conveniently located in the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant and easily accessible by public transportation. A simple hop on the B15, B25 or the A/C Line to either Utica Avenue or Kingston Throop will send you our way. Prepare for fascinating evening of great tasting cake, champagne/wine, music, poetry and definitely lots of positive energy. If you're interested in finding out more about The Cake Monologues and all of our products but wasn't quite sure of what to expect, this is definitely the place to be. Consider it your reasonably reduced cake consultation with all of the beautiful amenities that night out has to offer. Shanelle Gabriel, an awesome spoken word artist who performed alongside the likes of Jill Scott, DMX and on the 6th season of Def Poetry Jam, will be featuring at our event. She is the winner of the 2008 Atlantic City Alternative Soul Best CD Award for her album, Start Something and an inspiration to Lupus survivors everywhere. Free on the spot consultations for your cake needs will be done to tailor your needs. This event is open to the public and we encourage anyone and everyone to jump on the open mic list. Admission for Cake, Cocktails & Culture, Vol. I is $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased here on the website by visiting our home page or contacting me directly. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the event! My Sister's Keeper Event at The Green Bar 03/21/2010
It's been six months since the birth of this business and I feel eternally blessed. Last night, I was embraced by the love and warmth from the loving guests at the My Sister's Keeper event. My Sisters' Keeper is a Brooklyn based not for profit whose mission is to uplift teenage mothers from feeling alone and lost to independent and triumphant in their own way. For more information about their cause, please visit www.mskeeper.com or click the link. Tashima Jackson & Sheena Rue held their networking event at the Green Bar Lounge, located on 1175 Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn from 6pm - 11pm and they embraced me with open arms. I'm very meticulous about where I will conduct events and I definitely see myself working with them again if given the opportunity. I networked with people who I may have never received the benefit of saying anything to on a casual day. The Cake Monologues sampled a variety of mini cupcakes which included but not limited to: Twisted M&M, Strawberry Delight, Red Velvet & the Banana Puddin'. In addition, we tried two test run flavors: Pineapple Rum, Upside Down Raspberry 7-UP Mini Bundt Cakes & Toasted Vanilla Almond Kahlua Mini Cupcakes, which turned out to be a great hit. To see some of the pictures, please visit our Gallery to see some of what we served that night, as well as a host of items on our menu. We hope to see you at our later events. The next event will take place at Frank's Lounge in Brooklyn. For further information, please go to our Events page, located under the About Us tab. Love & Light! -L. Shauntay Snell Hey good people! Thanksgiving and Christmas is right around the corner. Everyone's enthused about seeing their Uncle Jim who makes all of the jokes at the table but if it's anything like my family, you have that loud mouth relative that doesn't know when to shut up and then there's that too familiar sound...awkward silence. What better way to kill that loud pause that seems like forever than with a great cake? From Nov. 1 - January 1, The Cake Monologues is making those classic holiday cakes, as well as some festive cakes. Maybe you want a gingerbread loaf or a sweet potato pumpkin cake drenched in a nice coating of a cinnamon vanilla cream? Maybe cake is just too much? A dozen of our luscious red velvet muffins with that sweet cream cheese frosting with sprinkles may do the trick? Contact Latoya @ the Cake Monologues today! Email me, Facebook me, call me during business hours at 347/907-5612 or grab me if you see me in the street and demand some cake (well, let's not do that). Hope to hear from you soon! Layout Changes on Site & All That Jazz 10/21/2009
The Cake Monologues' website recently went under some changes...nothing major. Most of the changes are cosmetic but we are looking forward to posting more pictures on the site. Forgive me everyone, as I am doing this business practically on my own. Keep me in your prayers! Future addendum to the site are cupcakes, a link with pricing, separate tabs for specialty cakes and much more! Follow me on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Blogger! Welcome to the Cake Monologues! 10/14/2009
It's a little overdue but my site is finally here! Thank you and welcome to Brooklyn's own Cake Monologues! At The Cake Monologues, we specialize in making traditional cakes and putting on alcohol twist. Ever tasted a Twisted M&M cake or tasted a cloud of The Amaretto Falsetto? If not, you definitely need to try our cakes and if you did, I know you want to come back. We sincerely hope that you will love our cakes as much as we do. If you have an idea for a cake, try us! You dream it, we create it. Thanks for stopping by! | L. Shauntay Snell
